Hello! Thanks for taking the time to check out our website. At Good Shepherd we can summarize our purpose in three words: know, grow and go. Our purpose is to know God's awesome love and plan for our lives, to grow in God's grace and Word through discipleship and to go make disciples of Christ as we share His love with others (Mark 12:29-31; 1 Peter 2:1-3; Matthew 28:18-20).
While God’s part in all of this is huge, we have to be ready to respond to God in a positive way. We must be open to getting to know God and his plan for our lives. We must be willing to invest time and energy to study His Word (the Bible) and to learn from other followers of Jesus. And, eventually, we must be willing to do what God asks of us in service to our neighbors.
My hope is that you will find here a way to connect to God through the ministry of Good Shepherd Church. While most people think of Sunday morning worship services as “church”, that is just one small part of what the church really is. The word “church” comes from the Greek word “ekklesia” which roughly translated means “the ones called out”. God calls us out of the sin, hurt, pain, dispair, and brokenness into a community of people who have put their faith in the One who created us. This community helps us grow into that relationship with God as we experience forgiveness in Jesus Christ for our past mistakes, power to live the life God would have us to through the Holy Spirit, and courage to step out in mission and service as we link arms with our new brothers and sisters.
With you for the journey-
Pastor Rich
