About Superhero Central

Each Sunday in July, children and their parents are invited to hear about the power of Jesus with Good Shepherd UMC! The event will include songs, a Bible lesson, crafts, snacks and games. This is a FREE family-focused event, so parents/guardians are invited to stay with their child(ren) during the event and participate in activities as a family. Our goal is to promote ongoing discussion of the love of Jesus, not just on Sunday evenings, but also at home. The events will take place at the Good Shepherd UMC building (with the exception of July 29th - please see details below).

General schedule, including weekly themes:

Registration begins at 6:15 p.m. each evening

Each evening runs from 6:30-8:00 p.m. (July 29th begins at 6:00 p.m.)

Week 1: Green Lantern, God’s Will is that we Follow Him

Week 2: Superman, God’s Truth and Love

Week 3: Hawkeye, God’s Love Never Fails

Week 4: Spiderman, Power through the Holy Spirit

Week 5: Jesus is our Ultimate Superhero!

On Sunday, July 29th, children and their families are invited to a cook-out at the Benton Ridge Park. After a family-focused devotion time, families are invited to participate in water game fun and yard games. Please note that the time for this gathering is adjusted to a half an hour earlier than previous weeks, 6:00-8:00 p.m. (Don’t forget your beach towels and swim suits!)

Note: All Volunteers have background checks!

Your child’s safety is important to us! All volunteers from Good Shepherd UMC who work directly with children have had background checks and have reviewed safety guidelines. Volunteers during each event will be wearing a Superhero lanyard with “VOLUNTEER” clearly indicated.
