| The Lord provided a beautiful day to
work. It was a little cooler (70). We were off to an early and
eager start today. Each day we have been reading from a devotional
guide by E. Stanley Jones, a very evangelical missionary to India.
Devotions begin at 6:45. Breakfast at 7:00 then off to work.
Tom P., Tim, Evan, Andy, Jim and Gary finished roofing (look at House
#1 below). They completed the project after lunch. The
homeowner was very grateful.
Tom T. worked at Algiers United Methodist Church. He is working
with a crew of skilled carpenters/plumbers to increase the number of
showers to 4 so Algiers will be able to host many short-term mission teams
over the next few years.
Bill, Kent, Bonnie, Dave, and Kevin traveled to a new location.
They took a ferry across the Mississippi. They met a young couple
whose house was flooded when the levee broke. They gutted their home
(see House #2 below). When the roofing crew finished they joined
this team. The combined effort finished the gutting job today!
Sandi and her cooking compatriots made a trip to the fish market.
They are preparing fresh fish for supper.
Thank you for your prayers. The Lord has blessed us with a safe
work trip. There have been no serious injuries. Throughout our
experience the team question has been, "What would you not do for
Jesus?" Believe us, we have done some things we never thought
we would do (suit up in disposable coveralls and move a refrigerator full
of food which has not been opened since hurricane Katrina). Jesus
did everything for us. Let us continue to give our all for Him!
